Electric Bastionland: Union, The Olfactionites
My brain-web is in a bit of a disarray lately.
Therefore I've decided to leave the bigger thingy I was working on for the blog on the backburner for now and focus on small posts again.
Here, have a Union!
What is a Union?
One of the many cool ideas that linger in the Oddendum, the chapter of extra stuff in Electric Bastionland.
To quote the book here:
Anything from a club to a cult to an army. As a general rule they, Want your money and service, Offer secrets that you want to be a part of, Have a cause
I could go on about why I think this is a great gaming concept, but brain-web, small posts, yada, yada, yada.
Let's just say Unions are groups of people that are kind of odd (haha), making the life of your PCs more complicated and are slowly pulling them deeper into the weirdness.
with that in mind here you have ...
The Olfactionites
(the cause of the Union is in italics and the Rituals/sectret tricks you possibly can participate in are the bulletpoints)
Smells are the hidden letters of the world. And our noses will be the eyes that read them
- Fragrant grave: You are burried in the ground for a night. The day after you meet up with the rest of the Union to collectively bath in the fragrance of the truffels that have grown around you in the dirt.
- The late guest: You learn the following Trick from the Union. If you smell the leftovers of a meal, coffee or tea, you can hear what was talked about between the people that originally were eating / drinking them.
- Night of the death smell: Bring a corpse to this Ritual. Together with the Union you may gain knowledge from the carrion smell. Ask three questions about the corpse's life. The conductor will answer them.
- Face of the Macrosmatic: Your face turns into a beastlike snout that allows you to track people and things by their scent
